Dina Burnham, Asst. Chief EMS Division, Red River Fire Department sums up her experience:
WOW! That’s all I can say! First - thank you for the opportunity for us to bring this to our community! What a thrill it is to see a group of people take such ownership in learning CPR. We ended up with 45 people!! The ages were from 10 (she worked her buns off the get that manikin to click) up to one of our very respected town elders at age 91 (we helped her down to the ground, she did 30 sec of GOOD compressions and helped her back to her chair, she said “I can do this I may just need to sit on the floor until EMS can help me back up again”). She is the women in the photo. We had nine of our EMS providers as facilitators (we called them Coaches) they had a ball and did a great job!
We have another church in town that is my next stop and will continue to talk to businesses and groups of people for additional training.
We also had several people saying how much they appreciated the NM Heart Institute and Dr. Ramo for putting this together! From me: I had a blast! Thank you!
