The New Heart Center for Fitness and Health offers a comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation program of care designed at an individual level. This pulmonary rehab program provides a safe and healing place for individuals with a wide variety of chronic pulmonary problems to help increase overall quality of life.

It is common for patients with chronic pulmonary problems to fall into a cycle of inactivity, depression, and social isolation that can cause a number of other health concerns. This new Pulmonary Rehabilitation program aims to break this cycle and give support, guidance, and pulmonary education to help patients live a better daily life.

The program is designed to provide an individualized program under a supportive team of exercise, nutrition, and pulmonary health specialists. Oxygen will be provided with the program.

“Pulmonary rehabilitation is a comprehensive intervention based on a thorough patient assessment followed by patient-tailored therapies, which include, but are not limited to, exercise training, education and behavior change, designed to improve the physical and emotional condition of people with chronic respiratory disease and to promote the long-term adherence of health-enhancing behaviors.” -American Thoracic Society and the European Respiratory Society (ATS/ERS) Task Force

Benefits of the program include:

• Improved quality of life
• Reduced respiratory symptoms (e.g., dyspnea)
• Increased exercise tolerance and performance
• Enhanced ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Increased knowledge of pulmonary disease and its management
